Running is embedded in Nike’s DNA. Phil Knight, a distance runner from the University of Oregon, and Bill Bowerman, a track-and-field coach at the same school, launched Nike with the runner in mind. Silhouettes launched under Nike Running often enjoy two lives: 1) the introduction as a performance model, and 2) the inevitable return as classic kicks for casual purposes. Makes sense, right? If it was good enough to run in, it had to be ideal for walking too.
